What the Orthodox rite asks of a family
In the Orthodox tradition the body rests at home for three days, and a priest serves the memorial prayers beside the coffin — at home, in a church, or in a funeral hall. We arrange the hour with the priest, help prepare the room, and tell you what is needed: candles, a cross, incense.
Most families cannot hold the whole sequence in mind at once: washing and dressing, laying the body in the coffin, choosing the hour of the procession, settling matters with the cemetery, the fortieth day. We set that order out in advance. The basic package is 850 GEL; a full one is quoted individually.

How long does the body stay at home, and how should the house be prepared?
Three days is the traditional answer, though many families now keep two. For that time the house needs a room for mourners: chairs, a table for candles, somewhere for flowers, and steady light. On the phone we go through what you already have and what is still missing.
The third day, the fortieth, the anniversary — what does each one mean?
Burial and the first memorial meal fall on the third day. On the fortieth the priest serves again and the family gathers close relatives; the anniversary repeats the same prayers. For any of these dates we can handle transport and the practical arrangements.
